Block 02 — The Problem

Most analytics setups are built for the tool, not for the business.

Default GA4 configurations track what Google tracks by default. They do not track what your business needs to measure. Without a measurement plan that starts with business questions and works backward to the data required, you end up with an analytics property full of data that cannot answer the questions anyone is actually asking.

Measurement planning: Define the business questions your analytics must answer before a single tag is configured

GA4 event schema: Design a custom event taxonomy that captures the specific interactions your business model depends on

GTM implementation: Configure all tracking through Google Tag Manager — maintaining a clean, auditable, updateable structure

Conversion goal architecture: Define and configure all conversion events with correct deduplication, value assignment, and attribution settings

BigQuery export: GA4 raw data export to BigQuery for custom analysis, long-term data retention, and advanced modelling

Block 05 — Cost of Delay

GA4 does not backfill. Every day without a correct setup is a day of data permanently lost.

Events that were not configured to fire did not fire. Conversions that were not set up to track were not tracked. The data from the period before a correct setup is simply absent.

Every day without correct tracking is a day of data you cannot recover. A conversation costs nothing.
